The Chartered Institute of
Arbitrators, UK was founded in London, England in 1915, incorporated
in 1924, and granted a Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth II in 1979.
Over past eighty six years, this professional body of international
arbitrators has expanded with branches now also located in continental
Europe, the Far East, Australia, Africa and North America. The Institute
now has over 11,000 members in over one hundred countries. As one
of the most recognised brand in the world of alternative dispute resolution
CIArb provides members with globally recognised membership qualifications.
Malaysian Branch was established in 1993 as a Malaysian registered
society. Our UK lineage has been one of the strength to the branch
as we subscribe to the standards imposed by London on the entry requirements
for the various class of memberships. Our training programmes such
as the entry level course, the special member course and the Fast
Track programme are accredited and the examinations approved by London.
In short, any candidate who has acquired training by the Branch and
has passed the prescribed exams is entitled to admission as member
of CIArb,UK and hence automatically entitled to be Malaysia Branch
member as well.
